An academic paper co-authored by Professor Ronen Feldman, Digital Trowel’s co-Founder and Chief Scientist, has been named as one of the five 2013 finalists for the very prestigious AQR Insight Award. The award is given annually to the academic paper that is the most striking example of cutting edge theory with great potential to influence the financial industry. The submission is based around Digital Trowel’s patent pending Visual CaRE technology, along with its Stock Sonar financial sentiment tool. DT’s Co-founder and Chief Scientist Prof. Ronen Feldman, has been selected to present a tutorial at the Fifth International AAAI Conference on Weblogs and Social Media (ICWSM-11), to be held at Barcelona, Spain July 17-21, 2011, on the subject of "Text Mining from User Generated Content".

Digital Trowel has retained the global law firm of Arent Fox. As an integral part of DT's growth strategy, Arent Fox will act as counsel to the company in its business transactions in the United States.
Digital Trowel has entered into a Data Redistribution Agreement with one of the leading database marketing companies in the United States. The extension is designed to mine and analyze various types of business events including mergers and acquisitions, employment changes, legal events, product releases or recalls etc.

Digital Trowel Features as Microsoft Israel Case Study


A case study on Digital Trowel was featured recently on the "Customers' Stories" section of Microsoft Israel's website (published on July 5, 2009). The case study describes Digital Trowel's data mining technologies and development activities with a focus on the company's evolution from MySQL to Microsoft's SQL Server for its infrastructure needs. The case study also enumerates the many technology development and business benefits accruing to Digital Trowel from its use of Microsoft's SQL Server 2008 Enterprise Edition.

Tutorial by Feldman at ACM SIGKDD Conference in Paris


At the end of June, Digital Trowel Co-Founder and Chief Scientist Prof. Ronen Feldman, together with Digital Trowel Board of Director’s Member Prof. Lyle Ungar, gave a tutorial on the state-of-the-art of Real World Text Mining at the 15th annual ACM SIGKDD Conference on Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining held in Paris. Feldman's and Ungar's tutorial at KDD09 included a discussion of recent advances in unsupervised methods for extracting facts from text and methods used for web-scale mining. They also presented several real world applications of text mining and how to handle informal texts such as blogs and user reviews, as well as how to build scalable systems. Ungar recently returned from a sabbatical at Google, where he and a team built what is probably the world’s largest named entity recognition system. The annual ACM SIGKDD conference is the premier international forum for data mining researchers and practitioners from academia, industry, and government.

Prof. Ronen Feldman Receives Hebrew University's Prestigious Abe Gray Prize


Doron Cohen, Founder, Chairman and CEO On June 9, 2009, the Hebrew University, Jerusalem, awarded its Abe Gray Prize for Excellence to Prof. Ronen Feldman in recognition of his contributions in the field of text mining. The prize was established by the late Abe Gray, a leading Canadian businessman, for excellence in research in the fields of business and finance.
As part of the ceremony, Professor Feldman delivered a lecture entitled, "Sentiment Analysis of Stocks from
News Sites."

One of the world's leading accounting journals recently accepted for publication a paper on sentiment analysis authored by Digital Trowel Co-Founder and Chief Scientist, Prof. Ronen Feldman.
